One Dead, Several Rescued as Benue Links Bus Plunges into Stream in Adi-Etulo


A female passenger has reportedly lost her life while several others were rescued following a road accident involving a Benue Links passenger bus along the Ogiladzi–Abakwa Road in Adi-Etulo, Benue State.

The tragic incident occurred at Ofyanghan, a section of the road in Adi-Etulo, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Friday, according to accounts from residents and travellers in the area.

Sources said the Benue Links bus was travelling toward Jato-Aka when it reportedly plunged into a nearby stream under circumstances that were yet to be determined.

Eyewitnesses and local residents reportedly rushed to the scene and assisted in rescuing several passengers from the vehicle. However, one female passenger was said to have died as a result of the crash.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not officially disclosed the number of passengers on board the bus, the identity of the deceased, or the possible cause of the accident.

Emergency responders and relevant government agencies were yet to issue a formal statement on the incident.

Efforts to independently verify all details surrounding the accident were ongoing at the time of publication.

Meanwhile, family members with relatives travelling along the route have been urged to contact their loved ones and seek information from relevant authorities as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
