Abeokuta, Nigeria – The leadership of the OK Movement, a support group backing the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has held a strategic meeting with former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The meeting comes amid growing reports that Obasanjo is supportive of the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket as political activities intensify ahead of the next presidential contest.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Friday, the OK Movement disclosed that its leadership met with Obasanjo on June 12, describing the engagement as “powerful and strategic.”
According to the group, the discussions reinforced a shared commitment to building a stronger, more united and progressive Nigeria.
“The wisdom, experience, and leadership perspectives shared during the meeting will further energize our efforts to build a movement that is people-centered, forward-looking, and dedicated to advancing the Nigerian cause,” the statement read.
The group added that it remains committed to mobilizing citizens, strengthening national unity, and advancing the vision of what it described as a “New Nigerian Movement.”
The meeting is seen as another significant development in the evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, as opposition forces continue consultations and alliance-building efforts across the country.
