Ojude Oba Festival Draws Thousands in Ijebu-Ode Amid National Secvrity Concerns


Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State – The ancient town of Ijebu-Ode came alive with colour, culture, and tradition as thousands of people gathered for the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated cultural events.

Held on the third day after Eid al-Kabir, the annual festival paid tr!bute to the lat£ Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, while showcasing the rich heritage and enduring traditions of the Ijebu people.

The event featured the famous Regberegbe age-grade parades, br£athtaking horseback displays, and dazzling fashion statements that attracted visitors from across Nigeria and beyond. Popular actor Ibrahim Chatta and celebrated fashion enthusiast Farooq Oreagba were among the standout personalities whose traditional attire captured the attention of attendees.

Several prominent dignitaries graced the occasion, including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Seyi Tinubu, who joined residents and visitors in celebrating the cultural legacy of Ijebuland.
