TEL AVIV, Israel —The Israeli Air Force was fully prepared to launch a large-scale military operation against Iran before the mission was halted at the last moment, according to comments attributed to the Air Force commander.
Speaking about the planned operation, the commander said the entire Air Force had been placed on high alert and was ready to execute a broad strike involving hundreds of targets deep inside Iran.
“The entire Air Force was ready to take off for a broad strike formation. Just hours away from the launch order, with shortened alert time, exceptional flexibility, full armament of the Air Force, planning, preparation, and readiness for takeoff to strike hundreds of targets deep inside Iran,” the commander reportedly said.
He added that the operation was cancelled while final briefings were still being conducted with combat squadrons.
“The attack was stopped while we were still briefing the squadrons, only an hour before the formation was set to take off,” he said.
The remarks suggest that Israeli forces had completed preparations for one of their most significant planned operations against Iran in recent years before receiving orders to stand down.
Reports circulating in Israeli and international media claim that the planned strike was halted following intervention by Donald Trump. However, no official confirmation of the circumstances surrounding the cancellation has been provided in the statement attributed to the Air Force commander.
