England captain Harry Kane has become England’s all-time leading goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup after netting his 11th tournament goal in the Three Lions’ 2-0 victory over Panama.
The England national football team striker surpassed Gary Lineker, who previously held the record with 10 World Cup goals.
Kane reached the milestone in 14 World Cup appearances, cementing his place in England’s football history as the nation’s most prolific scorer at the tournament.
Speaking after the match, Kane described the achievement as a special moment.
“It is a proud one for sure. I spoke before the tournament about the World Cup being the biggest competition we play as professional footballers, so to get to 11 goals is a proud feeling,” he told BBC Sport.
