ABUJA, Nigeria – National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has disclosed that he held a closed-door meeting with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other senior party leaders to review recent developments within the party and address issues affecting its unity.
In a statement issued on Democracy Day, Dickson said the meeting lasted for about three hours and focused on the activities of the party as well as concerns that had emerged among members and stakeholders.
According to him, all issues discussed during the meeting were resolved amicably, with participants reaffirming their commitment to the party’s broader objective of winning future elections and providing an alternative platform for Nigerians.
Dickson described Obi as his “brother, colleague, and partner in the New Nigerian Project,” stressing that both leaders have consistently remained aligned on the party’s long-term goals despite recent disagreements and controversies.
“We have always been on the same page on the bigger picture, that is winning elections for all candidates of our party and rescuing Nigeria from the misgovernance of the APC-led government,” Dickson stated.
He acknowledged that some concerns had arisen within the party in recent weeks but noted that agreements had been reached on how such matters would be handled going forward.
The former Bayelsa State governor also appealed to party members to end internal disputes, avoid name-calling, and concentrate on strengthening the party ahead of future political contests.
He assured supporters that consultations among party leaders and stakeholders would continue to ensure unity, cohesion, and effective coordination across all levels of the party.
