A British couple has been arrested in Spain after their six-month-old baby reportedly tested positive for cocaine, sparking a major child welfare investigation.
According to reports, the couple allegedly left their three young children — aged six months, two years, and four years — alone in a hotel room in the Costa del Sol resort town of Benalmádena while they went out partying.
Authorities were alerted after concerns were raised about the children’s welfare. Sources close to the investigation described the conditions in the hotel room as “worrying,” claiming the room was in disarray and that the four-year-old child appeared to be caring for the younger siblings.
Following medical examinations, the six-month-old baby reportedly tested positive for cocaine. The children have since been placed under temporary protective care by social services and taken to hospital for further assessments.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, while the identities of the parents and the hotel involved have not been publicly disclosed.
