Nasir El-Rufai’s wife, Asia Ahmad El-Rufai, has cried out over what she described as the continued harassment and intimidation of her family, saying they have been living in fear and emotional distress.
Speaking during an interview with Viable TV, Asia Ahmad El-Rufai said the family has been traumatized by constant threats and reports of possible raids by security agencies. She questioned why her husband has continued to face pressure outside the courtroom, insisting that if he has committed any offence, the law should be allowed to take its course.
According to her, the family now lives in fear daily, as they allegedly receive threatening messages and feel constantly monitored.
In her words:
“As family members, we have been traumatized enough. We don’t sleep. Every day we get a threat that DSS is coming to raid your house, ICPC is coming to raid your house, police are coming to raid your house. You are being followed. What is this? If Malam has done something, let the court decide. We are law-abiding citizens.”
She further stated that the family only wants fairness and justice, stressing that the court should be allowed to determine whether her husband is guilty or innocent.
Speaking further, she said:
“All we want is for the law courts to decide whether he is guilty or not. Let the trial hold. Let the world witness whether justice is being done because the truth is that whenever these shenanigans happen, there must be an underlying reason.”
