… As the University Commences Second Semester Examinations for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has highlighted the University’s reputation for academic stability and institutional efficiency, declaring that FUNAAB operates with predictable commencement and completion dates.
Prof. Kehinde made the disclosure today, Monday, May 18, 2026, during an inspection tour of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres as the University commenced its Second Semester Examinations for the 2025/2026 Academic Session. He noted that FUNAAB had sustained uninterrupted academic activities over the past four years, a development that has continued to strengthen confidence in the institution’s academic system.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness for the examinations, commending the improvements made to the University’s examination infrastructure, particularly its CBT facilities, to ensure a smooth and efficient exercise. According to him, the growing student population necessitated the strategic expansion of the CBT centres, especially with the admission of about 6,350 newly admitted 100-Level students and about 1,000 JUPEB students, bringing the total number of first-year candidates to more than 7,000.
Prof. Kehinde disclosed that the University had significantly increased the operational capacity of its CBT facilities. He explained that the 250-capacity CBT centre had been upgraded to accommodate 270 fully functional computer systems, while the 500-capacity centre was now operating optimally. He added that an additional CBT centre equipped with 240 systems had also been fully activated for the examinations.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that the upgrades had raised the University’s overall CBT capacity from about 500–600 systems to over 900 functional computers, thereby enhancing the conduct of e-examinations and reducing delays previously associated with examination scheduling. “With these improvements, we expect examination schedules to end much earlier, around 4:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m., unlike previous sessions where examinations extended till about 7:00 p.m.,” he stated.
Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olusegun Idowu, revealed that the University Management held several strategic meetings with relevant stakeholders ahead of the examinations to assess institutional preparedness. He added that continuous improvements had been made to the University’s electronic examination system, including upgrades to networking infrastructure and examination platforms.
According to him, several simulation exercises and test runs were conducted before the commencement of the examinations to guarantee efficiency and minimise technical challenges during the exercise.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun, cautioned students against bringing prohibited items and unauthorised materials into examination halls, stressing the need for strict compliance with examination regulations. He, however, commended students for their orderly conduct and discipline observed during the commencement of the examinations, expressing optimism that the exercise would remain peaceful and hitch-free.
In the same vein, the newly appointed Director of the Directorate of Academic Planning, Prof. Biodun Badmus, stated that the University had prioritised the maintenance and upgrading of technical and electrical facilities supporting the examinations to ensure uninterrupted operations. He emphasised that innovation, proper planning, and institutional support remained essential to sustaining a credible and transparent examination system in line with global academic standards.
The Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, Prof. Saliu Amolegbe, also affirmed that both written and CBT examination centres had been fully prepared for seamless operations, adding that all necessary examination materials were distributed ahead of schedule. “As I speak this morning, examinations are already ongoing, which clearly shows that the University is fully prepared for the exercise,” he stated.
Also speaking, the newly appointed Chairman of the Time-Table and Examinations Committee (TIMTEC), Prof. Emmanuel Idehen, restated the University’s commitment to strengthening examination coordination through digital innovation.
He disclosed that the Committee had introduced the TIMTEC Management System (TMS), a digital platform designed to enable real-time monitoring of examination venues, courses, and invigilators from a central point. According to him, the platform also allows invigilators to access their schedules digitally using their staff numbers, thereby improving coordination, accountability, and operational efficiency.
Prof. Idehen expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly atmosphere across examination venues, while commending the University Management for providing adequate facilities and creating a conducive environment for both staff and students.
Meanwhile, students who participated in the examinations commended the University for the smooth, peaceful, and well-coordinated conduct of the exercise, describing the process as efficient and student-friendly.
