The Redeemed Christian Church of God has stated that it is awaiting the outcome of investigations into allegations of $3xual misconduct involving one of its pastors in Ogbomoso.
The church’s Publicity Secretary, Lanre Oyegbola, confirmed that the church is aware of the allegations involving a youth pastor at the RCCG Strongtower parish located near Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.
The controversy gained attention after a video surfaced online showing a woman, reportedly a student of the university, confronting the pastor during a church service over allegations of attempted rape and $3xual coercion.
In the viral clip, the woman alleged that the pastor invited her to his residence under the pretense of collecting food she had bought for him before allegedly making unwanted advances toward her. She further claimed that after she resisted, he allegedly requested oral $3x and boasted about similar encounters involving other female church members.
Following the incident, reports emerged alleging that additional women had also come forward with claims involving coercion, abuse of pastoral authority, and inappropriate conduct.
Reacting to the development, Oyegbola stated that the church would wait for the outcome of investigations reportedly being conducted by school authorities before deciding on further action. He also noted that the church had not yet announced any suspension concerning the accused pastor.
Attempts to reach Sunday Akande were reportedly unsuccessful, while messages sent to the accused pastor through social media were not answered.
The matter has continued to generate reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for a transparent investigation. Lekan Fadeyi said he was initially unaware of the incident but promised to verify whether an official complaint had been submitted to the university.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command said it had not yet received full details of the case. Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade explained that such matters are typically handled by the state Criminal Investigation Department.
