A 24-year-old fashion designer, Tairu Razaq, has emerged champion of the heavyweight category at the 15th Ogun Boxing Hall of Fame competition held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Razaq defeated Talabi Samuel by unanimous decision after dominating all three rounds of their bout at the Alake Sports Complex in Ijeja, Abeokuta.
In other contests, Waheed Olanrewaju of Voltrom Boxing Club beat Victor Ojo of Champion Boxing Club by unanimous decision in the 65-kilogram category.
Quyum of Emirate Boxing Club also secured a unanimous victory over Rokeem Oyakojo of 3 Star Boxing Club in the 60-kilogram division.
In the 50-kilogram category, Jamiu Alabi of Ofada Boxing Club was declared winner against Gabriel Emmanuel of Champion Boxing Club after the referee stopped the contest.
Another bout saw Quyum Oyakojo of 3 Star Boxing Club defeat Opeyemi Ogunwale of OKB Boxing Club by split decision in the 55-kilogram category.
In the female events, Fathia Gafar of De Shield Boxing Club defeated Aliyah Olalekan of Perry Knuckle Boxing Club by split decision in the 51-kilogram category.
Omotolani Akinyemi of Shadow Boxing Club also recorded a narrow victory over Anuoluwapo Soyombo of 316 Boxing Club in the 57-kilogram division.
Meanwhile, Ayomide Mayowa of YUCATECO Boxing Club outclassed Taofikat Adepoju of Kings and Queens Boxing Club to win by unanimous decision in the 48-kilogram category.
The tournament was organised by the Ogun Boxing Hall of Fame in collaboration with the Ogun State Boxing Association.
