The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture-related non-engineering courses will no longer be required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The announcement was made during the board’s ongoing policy meeting on admissions and shared via JAMB’s official X handle on Monday.
This marks a major shift in Nigeria’s tertiary admission process, as the UTME has for years remained the standard examination for gaining admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
The move is expected to encourage more students to pursue careers in education and agriculture, sectors considered vital to national development.
