Bashir El-Rufai has reportedly divorced his first wife, Halima Nwakaego Kazaure, after five years of marriage and is now said to be preparing to marry another woman later this year.
Bashir, one of the sons of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, got married to Halima Nwakaego Kazaure, daughter of former Jigawa senator Ibrahim Kazaure, on November 21, 2020.
However, during the Eid celebration, Bashir took to X to publicly express admiration for another woman on the platform.
After some users questioned him over the post, he clarified that the woman is his fiancée.
When further asked whether he was still married, Bashir confirmed that he is now divorced.
As for his reason for divorce, he wrote, "I divorced my first wife (I have no time for Genz wahala). The difference is clear. I had no clue Nupe women treat their husbands like emperors. Loving it."
