Three Corps Members serving in the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State, have demonstrated exceptional vocational skills by undertaking bricklaying work for the construction of two mini offices behind the Camp Pavilion.
The initiative, which reflects the practical application of skills acquisition and self-reliance, was voluntarily carried out by the Corps Members as part of their contribution towards infrastructural development within the Camp.
The Corps Members involved in the project are Abundega Ortwer Isaac (OS/26A/4252), a graduate of Business Administration and Management; Oluwole Kehinde (OS/26A/3977), who studied Mechanical Engineering; and Gwajime Ephraim Terkur (OS/26A/4888). Drawing from their hands-on training and technical experience, the trio worked collaboratively in laying blocks, mixing construction materials, and executing the project with dedication and professionalism.
The project received the full support of the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Ekeng Kubiangha, who made available the necessary materials and resources required for the construction work and also supervised and encouraged the Corps Members throughout the exercise.
Speaking on the development, Kubiangha commended the Corps Members for their creativity, commitment, and willingness to deploy their vocational skills for community development.
He described the initiative as a practical reflection of the core objectives of the National Youth Service Corps Scheme, particularly in promoting self-reliance, productivity, and youth empowerment.
Kubiangha, known for his strong advocacy for youth development and empowerment, urged Corps Members to continually harness their talents and vocational abilities to create positive impact and leave lasting legacies wherever they find themselves.
“This is part of the essence of NYSC. Corps Members should not limit themselves to academic qualifications alone but should also utilise their practical skills to contribute meaningfully to society,” he stated.
According to Kubiangha, the project further highlights the importance of skill acquisition as a viable pathway to employment generation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable community development among Nigerian youths.
