In a report published by DAILY POST on Friday May 22, 2026, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) may face significant political challenges if President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima contest the 2027 general election on the same ticket.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele urged the party to reconsider the decision, noting that it could generate strong resistance both within Nigeria and internationally.
Ayodele warned that repeating a Muslim-Muslim ticket could trigger widespread opposition and weaken APC’s electoral chances. He said the move is politically risky and could destabilize the party, potentially affecting its ability to retain power in the next election cycle if not carefully reconsidered.
In Ayodele’s words, “It will be a political suicide for Tinubu and Shettima to be on the same ticket for the 2027 presidential election. Tinubu should see it as an end for the APC as a party because people will stand against it.”
