A painful and disturbing case of alleged medical negligence has emerged from Lagos State, where 44-year-old Blessing Okolie reportedly lost her life after undergoing fibroid surgery at a private hospital.
According to her sister, Beady Nnanna, a media personality and publisher, Blessing had battled a severe case of Uterine fibroids that affected her physically and emotionally. The condition was so serious that many mistook her for being pregnant, and it also reportedly strained her marriage.
In a bid to start a family and improve her health, she opted for surgery in December 2025. Despite concerns from her family about the hospital’s standard, Blessing insisted on undergoing the procedure at a private facility in the Abule Egba area.
Tragically, things went terribly wrong.
It is alleged that during the operation, a doctor left a pair of scissors inside her stomach — a shocking act of negligence that ultimately led to her death.
