When I Was In The Senate, Each Time I Speak About Killings, Northern Senators Would Attack me - Sani

According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, April 27, 2026, Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, has stated that President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi share similar political ideology and patterns of thinking.

He made this remark during an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where he discussed Nigeria’s political landscape and the alignment of key national figures across different administrations and political backgrounds.

Sani explained that despite the public perception of strong ideological divisions among Nigeria’s prominent politicians, their core political orientations are largely alike.

He suggested that the major political actors in the country often operate within the same framework of ideas, strategies, and motivations regardless of their party affiliations or public image.

According to him, the differences often seen in public discourse do not necessarily translate into fundamentally different political philosophies.

During the podcast conversation, Sani also focused on the political support base of Peter Obi. He argued that Obi’s popularity is largely driven by ethnic sentiment rather than a broad national ideological appeal.

He maintained that the structure of support around Obi tends to reflect strong ethnic identification, which shapes the nature of his political following in different parts of the country.

He further emphasized that a significant portion of Obi’s supporters are drawn from his ethnic group.
