The next move which I know, Wike won't make, is to leave APC and pick PDP Presidential ticket - Segun Sowunmi

PDP chieftain Segun Sowunmi has ignited renewed speculation about FCT minister, Nyesom Wike’s political trajectory following the recent triumph of his faction within the Peoples Democratic Party.

Speaking in an interview on MIC ON PODCAST, Sowunmi suggested that Wike, having consolidated control of party infrastructure, could still be positioned to mount a credible presidential challenge if he chose to return fully to the PDP and pursue the party’s ticket.

Sowunmi framed his observations around Wike’s past presidential interest and current role in the APC-led federal government. He noted that Wike had sought the presidency in 2023 and that his recent success in managing internal party structures has strengthened his standing inside the PDP.

According to Sowunmi, a strategic decision by Wike to leave his present government role and contest the PDP nomination would change the dynamics of future contests.

He said,

"The next game on the table, which I know he's not going to do, is for Wike to retire from this APC government he's serving, pick the presidential ticket of PDP, and give it his best shot.
