According to a report from Arise News on April 26, 2026, Nkeki Mutah, President of the Kibaku Area Development Association (KADA), has expressed deep concern over the continued insecurity in Chibok, Borno State, stating that the community has remained under persistent threat since the infamous 2014 schoolgirl abduction.
He lamented that life in Chibok has remained unstable for years, stressing that the area rarely experiences a full week of peace without reports of attacks, killings, or abductions linked to Boko Haram activity.
According to him, “Since the Chibok girls were attacked, Chibok has not stayed up to a week without Boko Haram abducting or killing,” highlighting the recurring nature of violence affecting residents.
Mutah further questioned the commitment of authorities to ending the insurgency, suggesting that the prolonged crisis raises serious concerns about how the situation is being handled. He said the pattern of insecurity creates the impression that there is no firm political will to fully eliminate Boko Haram.
He added, “It seems as though the people in authority don’t want the insurgency to finish. The handwriting of the authorities in Borno State suggests they are in support of Boko Haram.”
His comments reflect the deep frustration within affected communities in the North-East, where residents continue to face insecurity despite ongoing military operations. Many rural areas in Borno State still report sporadic attacks and instability, underscoring the long-standing nature of the conflict and its impact on daily life.
