Ondo: Owo LG Acting Chairman receives ODSEMA, NEMA In swift response to rainstorm disaster In Emure-Ile

 
The Acting Chairman of Owo Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Hammed, has received the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (ODSEMA) team in a swift response to a rainstorm disaster incident in Emure-ile last night.

The Acting Chairman, alongside the Chairman of Owo Northwest LCDA, Barrister Alaba Ajipe, received the emergency response agency team led by the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Fredrick Orunko, and former Special Adviser to the Governor on Emergency Response, Hon. Wellington Adebawo.

During a meeting with the Elemure of Emure-ile, Oba Bankole Adeyefa, Hon. Hammed thanked the team for their quick visitation to assess the level of impact caused by the violent storm. The Acting Chairman noted that the devastation recorded was significant, with several buildings, shops and public infrastructure severely affected, leaving many families displaced. 

While seeking the intervention of the Agency, he assured that the local government would continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure that victims receive timely assistance and that necessary steps are taken to mitigate further hardship. 

“I sympathize with all those impacted by this unfortunate incident, and I assure them that the local government will work closely with relevant agencies to provide immediate relief and support", he stated

In his remarks, the Elemure of Emure-ile, Oba Bankole Adeyefa, commended the swift response of government agencies, noting that such timely intervention has brought hope to the affected community. The monarch, however, appealed for quick intervention for families affected by the incident. He also stressed the need for proactive environmental measures, particularly the enforcement of tree planting policies, to serve as windbreakers and reduce the impact of future occurrence.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Owo Northwest LCDA, Barr. Alaba Ajipe, emphasized the impacts of the incident and reiterated the commitment of the LCDA to ensure the victims received necessary attention.

Hon. Hammed further commended the Ondo State Government under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for its responsiveness to emergencies, describing the swift deployment of the agencies as a demonstration of a proactive government.

In his remarks, Mr. Orunko, assured that a comprehensive assessment would be carried out, and findings promptly communicated to the appropriate authorities for necessary action. He reiterated the commitment of both NEMA and ODSEMA to providing relief and support to affected communities in line with their mandates.

The Acting Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of the Owo Local Government to stand with the people of Emure-ile during this difficult period, assuring that no effort would be spared in restoring normalcy and providing succour to those affected by the unfortunate incident.
