Former presidential candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore has issued a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, arguing that efforts to promote the government’s image cannot conceal the mounting challenges confronting ordinary Nigerians.
Sowore shared his views in a statement on his official X account, emphasizing the growing disconnect between official messaging and citizens’ lived experiences.
“No amount of propaganda can rescue a failed Tinubu regime; neither city boys nor village people can mask the reality Nigerians face,” Sowore wrote, using hashtags to call for urgent political accountability and change.
In his post, Sowore highlighted the persistent difficulties facing Nigerians, including economic hardship, rising living costs, and ongoing insecurity, which he said remain largely unaddressed by the current government.
According to him, government efforts to manage public perception through organized campaigns are insufficient in confronting the realities of everyday life for citizens.
The activist criticized both political elites and grassroots operatives for attempting to reshape public opinion, arguing that such measures cannot erase the tangible struggles experienced across the country.
“People are increasingly frustrated and demanding real solutions, not public relations campaigns,” he asserted, emphasizing that widespread dissatisfaction is growing across urban and rural communities alike.
Sowore also drew attention to what he sees as a widening gap between the government and the populace, warning that declining trust in leadership, particularly among younger Nigerians, could intensify societal discontent.
He suggested that the administration’s failure to address pressing issues risks eroding the legitimacy of governance and fueling public unrest in the years ahead.
In addition to his critique, Sowore urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and actively engaged in national matters.
He highlighted the importance of holding public officials accountable through lawful and peaceful channels, framing civic participation as a cornerstone of a functioning democracy.
