Jubilation as Federal government declares Friday, May 1 public holiday



The Nigerian Federal Government has declared Friday, May 1, 2026, a public holiday to commemorate the 2026 International Workers' Day (May Day). Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the holiday on behalf of the government, praising workers' dedication to national development.

The minister urged workers to uphold patriotism and productivity for the nation's growth.

The administration reaffirmed its focus on improving workers' welfare and creating a better working environment under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
