The idea comes from Shimizu Corporation’s “Lunar Solar Power” concept, where a massive belt of solar panels would stretch around the Moon’s equator, continuously collecting sunlight.
Here’s why it sounds so powerful.
The Moon has no atmosphere, no weather, and no clouds. That means constant, uninterrupted solar energy, far more stable than anything we get on Earth.
The energy would then be converted into microwaves or lasers and transmitted back to Earth, where receiving stations would convert it back into electricity.
In theory, this could provide clean, near-limitless energy without the fluctuations of day, night, or seasons.
But here’s the reality check.
This is still a concept, not an active project.
Building it would require:
• Massive lunar infrastructure
• Autonomous robots for construction
• Efficient and safe wireless energy transmission
• Huge costs and decades of development
