Iran has agreed to pause its military actions following a ceasefire proposal announced by former US President, Donald Trump.
The announcement was confirmed by Iran’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who shared the update in a statement on social media.
According to him, the agreement was arranged with the help of Shehbaz Sharif, acting on behalf of the United States.
Araghchi explained that Iran will stop its military operations, but only if no further attacks are carried out against the country.
He said Iran’s armed forces are ready to stand down, as long as peace is maintained during the period.
The minister also revealed that ships will be allowed to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks under proper coordination.
This development comes after Trump earlier announced a two-week ceasefire plan between both sides.
Following the agreement, global oil prices dropped sharply, falling below $100 per barrel, giving some relief to the international market.
