“If Atiku Emerges ADC Flag Bearer, APC Risks Backlash in the North” — Primate Ayodele warns

Renowned cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a strong warning regarding Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, cautioning that tensions could escalate if certain political alignments are pursued.

Ayodele specifically referenced former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, suggesting that his emergence as the presidential flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could significantly reshape voter sentiment, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

According to the cleric, if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also zones its presidential ticket to the North, it may trigger strong resistance from the region; He warned that such a move could provoke widespread dissatisfaction among voters, using the metaphor that “they will stone them” to describe the intensity of the potential backlash.

Ayodele emphasized that political parties must tread carefully in their zoning strategies and candidate selection, noting that Nigerians are becoming increasingly sensitive to issues of fairness, inclusion, and regional balance.
