According to a report by Leadership, on Wednesday April 29, 2026, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the legitimacy of the Wike-backed faction issuing nomination forms for the 2027 elections, stating that such actions have no legal standing due to existing court judgments and internal party decisions affecting leadership structure.
The party leadership in Lagos, led by Barr. Dr. Amos Fawole, stated this in a release signed by its publicity secretary, Christopher Odianarewo, it said the faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu is operating without lawful authority.
The Lagos PDP referenced earlier court decisions to support its position, it pointed to the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on March 9, 2026, and the FCT High Court ruling of January 12, 2026, the rulings affirmed the suspension and expulsion of Senator Samuel Anyanwu from the party, and the party said the decisions remain binding.
According to the statement, Anyanwu’s expulsion means he has no legal power to act on behalf of the PDP, it added that any actions based on his authority, including recognition of a parallel leadership structure or national working committee, are invalid and have no legal effect.
The party stated that the Abuja convention held on March 29, 2026, under the disputed leadership is void from the beginning because it was built on an unlawful foundation, it further noted that a Form 48 notice issued by the FCT High Court shows continued judicial enforcement and strengthens compliance with earlier rulings against affected individuals.
The Lagos PDP maintained that nomination forms issued or signed under the disputed leadership carry no legal recognition and cannot be accepted by party organs or electoral authorities.
