Daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo has taken a major step in her 2027 ambition as she met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.
The meeting, which was held privately, focused on her plan to contest for the governorship seat in Ogun State under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to sources, Iyabo Obasanjo used the opportunity to brief the President on her vision for Ogun State. She spoke about her plans to improve governance, drive development, and serve the people better if elected.
She also highlighted her long-standing political relationship with President Tinubu, describing it as one built on respect and years of working together. According to her, this connection has played a key role in shaping her leadership style.
Speaking after the meeting, she said the discussion focused on leadership, governance, and the future of both Nigeria and Ogun State.
The former commissioner also reaffirmed her loyalty to the APC and promised to mobilise support for President Tinubu ahead of future elections.
Political observers believe the meeting is part of early consultations and alignments ahead of the 2027 elections in Ogun State and across the country.
