Tonto Dikeh is facing a lawsuit and public backlash after a video of her allégedly performing an "exórcism" on a schoolgirl went viral. Human rights lawyer Ikechukwu Obasi has filed a ₦200million suit against her, claiming she vîolated the child's rights to dignity and privacy.
The incident occurred on March 6, 2026, at Junior Secondary School Durumi II in Abuja, where Dikeh allégedly laid the child on bare ground and pressed her against a stony surface.
Obasi has given Dikeh a 72-hour ultimatum to issue a public apology, wârning that failure to comply will result in legal action. The lawyer argues that Dikeh's actions constitute child abuse, assault, and battery, and violate the Child Rights Act and the Nigerian Constitution.
Interestingly, Dikeh has since returned to the school, fulfilling a promise to sponsor the student's education from JSS1 to university and donating ₦1 million to the student's widowed father for a business venture. She also ordered 10 laptops for the school to enhance digital learning.
