Lauretta Onochie Reacts To Report That ICPC Has Found Wire Tapping Equipment in El-Rufai's House


Former presidential aide and one of the chieftains of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Lauretta Onochie has reacted to report that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has found wire tapping equipment at the residence of the former governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

The reaction of Lauretta Onochie was contained in a post that she shared on her official X handle on Monday, March 2, 2026.

According to THE NATION, ICPC claimed that the Items recoverd from the residence of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai in Abuja are capable of tapping conversations and sensitive security documents.

This is coming after the former governor of Kaduna state was invited and detained by the federal government.

However, Lauretta Onochie has now shared her thoughts after the report surfaced online. In a statement that she shared on her official X handle, she said the former governor of Kaduna state had the opportunity to go on exile but chose to return to Nigeria.

She said she needs explanation on why Mallam Nasir El-Rufai will leave an incriminating wire-tapping equipment in his home that was searched.

According to Lauretta Onochie on her official X account;

"Mallam bravely refused to go on exile. He returned home and Nigerians prevented his arrest without a warrant at the airport. In all these days, Mallam left an incriminating wire tapping equipment in the particular home that was searched".
