Six suspects, identified as Chukwuemeka, Kingsley, Eunice, Andrew, Aaron, and Chudi, have been arrested in connection with the production and distribution of counterfeit life-saving drugs, including fake cerebral malaria injections.
An official stated, “What we discovered should make every Nigerian cry. These were not just fake vitamins. These were life-saving medicines, injections used in emergency cases like cerebral malaria. When fake injections are used in such situations, it becomes a death sentence.”
He added that the fake products are so sophisticated that even original manufacturers struggle to tell the difference. Some counterfeit versions had been circulating undetected for over six months.
The public was warned: “If a drug is unusually cheap, don’t think you’ve found a bargain. It could cost you your life.”
