The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has paid ₦1.33 billion to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to support students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to NELFUND, the money was released on January 19, 2026, and it will cover 6,308 UNILAG students who met all the requirements of the federal student loan programme.
The Fund explained that the list of beneficiaries came from verified records provided by the university during the application process.
NELFUND also said students should go ahead with registration and academic activities without delay, while the Fund works closely with UNILAG to ensure the money is properly applied to students’ accounts.
The agency assured Nigerians of transparency and promised that no qualified student would be left out. Students were advised to contact their school bursary or student affairs office for further clarification.
