Popular American YouTuber and livestream star, IShowSpeed, has officially been granted Ghanaian citizenship.
The announcement was made by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa, who confirmed that the 21-year-old content creator has been issued a Ghanaian passport.
According to the minister, the decision followed discussions that proved IShowSpeed has strong and genuine ties with Ghana. The move is also part of Ghana’s “Beyond the Return” programme, which encourages people of African descent to reconnect with the country.
Ablakwa praised the YouTuber for promoting Ghana and Africa positively to the world, describing him as a good ambassador for the continent.
IShowSpeed recently completed a one-month Africa tour, visiting 20 African countries from December 29, 2025. Through his livestreams, he showcased African culture, tourism, technology, and daily life to his over 50 million YouTube followers.
Many fans have welcomed the news, calling it a big win for Ghana and Africa.
