Conte Mocks Chelsea After Napoli’s UCL Exit

Napoli coach, Antonio Conte, has taken a dig at Chelsea after his team lost 3–2 at home and crashed out of the UEFA Champions League.

Napoli were close to qualifying after turning the game around to lead Chelsea 2–1 in the first half. Goals from Antonio Vergara and Rasmus Hojlund had put the Italian side ahead after Enzo Fernandez scored early for Chelsea.

However, two second-half goals from Joao Pedro sealed the win for Chelsea and knocked Napoli out of the competition. Napoli eventually finished 30th out of 36 teams, missing out on the knockout stage.

Speaking after the match, Conte said Napoli played very well despite having only 13 available players due to injuries. He added that his team deserved more from the game.

Conte also pointed at Chelsea’s spending power, saying success in the Champions League now depends on having not just one team, but “two or even two-and-a-half squads,” like Chelsea.

While Napoli were eliminated, Chelsea qualified directly for the knockout rounds without playing in the playoffs.
