Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), has warned that fraǔdsters are no longer operating only in markets and offices — they’ve now found their way into churches.
While preaching during a midweek service, the cleric shared a shocking experience where someone allegedly impersõnated him to scãm people.
According to Bishop Oyedepo, the suspect contacted one of his assistants, claiming to be him and making certain demands. Troǔble started when the assistant decided to verify the claim.
“My assistant called back and the person said, ‘Can I speak to Bishop Oyedepo?’ He said yes, you can talk to him,” Oyedepo narrated.
The impersõnator was immediately exposed, caught off guard, and reportedly ended up cǔrsing himself after realizing his cover had been blown.
Using the incident as a warning, Bishop Oyedepo said fraud has now spread everywhere — including religious spaces.
“That is the world we live in today. 419 plenty in church, plenty in market, school and everywhere.”
He urged Nigerians to stay alert, verify information, and never act on requests just because a popular name is mentioned.
“Walk in the truth, and you will never be trapped.”
