The heartbreaking story of Marcus and Alicia Lofton has ended in tragedy and a painful reminder of the deadly consequences of domestic violence.
The couple married earlier this year in February, but by May, Marcus had already been arrested for domestic violence and placed under a no-contact court order barring him from seeing Alicia.
On August 16, Alicia filed for divorce after allegedly discovering shocking infidelity — including claims of finding Marcus in bed with other men.
Despite the court order, Marcus went to the home where Alicia was staying. Police say a confrontation ensued, during which a firearm discharged. Alicia attempted to escape but later d*ed from her injuries.
Marcus fled the scene but was eventually arrested.
He has now pleaded guilty to second-degree m¥rder and has been sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison.
