NSCDC Shuts Down Illegal Mining Sites in Rivers State


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals in the South-South have shut down several illegal sand mining, dredging sites and quarrying sites in Eleme LGA, Rivers State.

The NSCDC said it is part of its ingoing campaign against the illegal exploitation of the nation's solid minerals.

According to the Commander, DSC Emmanuel Abiahu, the action followed intelligence reports and is part of efforts to enforce compliance in the solid minerals sector. He warned all operators to obtain or update their licenses or face prosecution.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting national assets and urged the public to report any illegal mining activities in their communities.
