A 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his 20-year-old wife to death after she reportedly refused to cook at their home in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect was arrested after a complaint was lodged that he had assaulted his wife, who later succumbed to the injuries she sustained.
During interrogation, Amodu reportedly confessed that he attacked his wife in a fit of anger after she allegedly declined to prepare a meal.
"The suspect confessed to committing the act out of anger after the deceased allegedly refused to prepare food. An argument ensued, which escalated into a physical altercation that ultimately resulted in her death," Nansel said.
Police revealed that the couple had been married for six years and had two children a boy and a girl.
The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for a thorough investigation.
He assured the public that justice would be served and that the suspect would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
