Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has publicly expressed surprise and skepticism regarding a trending video of Plateau-based cleric Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, saying “I'm sure a lot of you were surprised when you saw this video of Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo saying that they should pray for Tinubu. It was surprising because this man has criticized the Tinubu’s government because of the insecurity in Plateau state. I'm not surprised because I know that the government controls religion”
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a regional leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), was captured in a video during a Christian advocacy tour in Israel. In the video, he prayed for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Governor of Benue State, and President Bola Tinubu. He declared that "whatever evil seed planted against Tinubu's regime has been uprooted."
This is the same Rev. Dachomo who has historically been a fierce and vocal critic of the Tinubu administration, frequently speaking out against governance flaws and the persistent insecurity, attacks, and k+llings affecting Christian communities in Plateau State and the Middle Belt.
VeryDarkMan questioned the sudden shift in the clergyman's stance. In his viral reaction video, VDM stated that while many people were shocked by the cleric's sudden pivot from fierce criticism to prayer, he ultimately was not shocked. VDM alleged that the shift highlights how the government influences and controls religious institutions in Nigeria.
In a statement that has sparked curiosity, VeryDarkMan asked how the clergyman moved from criticising Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima over allegations that they wanted to Islamise Nigeria to publicly praying for the current administration.
He accused politicians of using religion as a trap to control the minds of citizens, stating that the sudden pivot did not surprise him because the government historically controls religious narratives.
