Nigerian nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of ministers from the Southeast, urging President Bola Tinubu to replace those he believes have failed to deliver tangible benefits to the region.
His criticism followed an incident in which Minister of Works Dave Umahi reportedly had a microphone snatched from him during an All Progressives Congress (APC) event.
Reacting to the development, Cubana Chief Priest described Umahi as one of the worst ministers the Southeast had produced, questioning what the region had gained from having one of its own oversee the Ministry of Works.
“The second to worst minister Southeast ever had. We have nothing to show for it as a region that had minister of works,” he said.
He also took aim at a female minister from Imo State, dismissing her performance as that of a “fluke of a minister.” He subsequently called on Tinubu to replace appointees he considers ineffective.
Beyond the criticism of Umahi and the Imo State minister, the entrepreneur expressed disappointment with what he described as the limited benefits the Southeast had received from ministerial appointments in key portfolios, including finance, trade and investment.
Cubana Chief Priest also questioned the political value of some of the appointments, claiming that the minister representing his state could not mobilise even 1,000 votes for Tinubu.
“No impact, no level na boys just use mama cash out,” he added.
His remarks reflected his frustration with what he considers a lack of meaningful regional development and accused some political appointees of benefiting personally from their positions without delivering corresponding results for the Southeast.
