NIGERIA@66: THE CONVOCATION
There is hope for Nigeria if we can keep stirring the right conversations to the point of agreement. It is when we agree that we can push together for a better outcome. I know many will disagree with this.
The Convocation is an annual programme put together by Olonimoyo Henry of Crest FM, Akure, Ondo State, to stir the minds of citizens so that we graduate to the next level in nation building.
These conversations are not always easy to engage in because of the various interest groups involved. In such conversations, we often have critics, supporters, opposers and pressure groups.
This year's discussion was centred around ELECTION 2027. One of the guest speakers, Hon. John Awode, dealt largely with the average mindset of the grassroots towards the electioneering process, how elections should begin with the least election first before the presidential election. He weighed in heavily on how the media, INEC and the grassroots are directly and indirectly aiding election malpractices.
After his presentation, if you are not open-minded, you will disagree with reactions from alleged parties — but the media gave a very good account of themselves, INEC tried and the politicians too.
The YPP State Chairman gave a very good account of himself on the topic of discussion. My brother from the NDC party representing Owo Constituency I, Hon. Ojigbo Adeola Adexcool, was also on ground.
The outcome of the meeting is simple: EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY ACCORDING TO THE RULES AND WE SHOULD BE FAIR ENOUGH TO OURSELVES BY MAKING QUALITY CHOICES AND NOT INDUCED CHOICES.
