The Elemure of Emure-Ile Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Bankole Adeyefa II, has congratulated the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on the recognition bestowed on his administration by the Federal Government for its interventions and contributions to the development of education in the state.
Governor Aiyedatiwa received the Special Recognition Award from the Federal Ministry of Education on Monday, October 5, 2026, during the 2026 World Teachers’ Day Commemoration and President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards held at Eagle Square, Abuja.
In a congratulatory message, the monarch described the recognition as an important acknowledgement of the efforts of the state government in strengthening the education sector, particularly through investments in school infrastructure, teacher recruitment and development, learning materials and improved access to education.
Oba Adeyefa noted that education remains central to the development of individuals and communities, stressing that sustained investment in the sector is essential to preparing young people for the responsibilities and opportunities of the future.
He commended the governor for his initiatives, including the recruitment of more than 2,100 teachers in 2025, the construction of 43 classroom blocks and renovation of 75 schools, as well as the provision of furniture and learning materials to schools across the state.
The monarch also acknowledged the administration's support for students through the sponsorship of examination registration, bursary interventions and measures aimed at easing transportation challenges for learners, describing such interventions as significant components of efforts to improve access to education.
He particularly welcomed the governor's decision to dedicate the award to teachers across Ondo State, noting that the recognition ultimately reflected the collective contribution of educators, administrators and other stakeholders whose work sustains the state's education system.
According to him, the recognition should serve not only as an honour but also as encouragement for the state government to sustain and deepen its investment in education, especially in rural communities where access to quality educational facilities remains particularly important.
The Elemure further congratulated Governor Aiyedatiwa on the honour and commended the Federal Ministry of Education for recognising initiatives contributing to educational development in Ondo State.
He expressed confidence that continued collaboration among government, teachers, traditional institutions, communities and other stakeholders would further strengthen the state's education system and create better opportunities for children and young people across Ondo State.
The monarch, while wishing Governor Aiyedatiwa continued success in office, urged the state government to sustain its focus on human capital development, describing education as one of the most enduring investments any government can make in the future of its people.
