“Bills are too much” – Single mother cries out, regrets leaving marriage after taking friends’ advice

A Nigerian single mother has said she regrets walking out of her marriage after acting on the advice of people she confided in about her marital troubles, as she now battles financial hardship.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she slammed women who encourage others to leave their marriages, accusing them of offering misleading counsel under the guise of helping.

She advised married women to be careful about whom they share their marital problems with, alleging that those she turned to for advice played a part in the collapse of her marriage.

“People that I shared my marital issues with are the ones that turned me into the single mother that I am today,” she lamented.

Sharing her story, the woman revealed that her ex-husband was a commercial tricycle operator, popularly known as a keke driver, who woke up around 4 a.m. every day to provide for the family.

She said she also rose early to hustle but usually came back home worn out. According to her, their marital problems deepened because she often rejected her husband’s sexual advances out of exhaustion.

The woman disclosed that she eventually walked out of the marriage on the advice of others, a decision she now deeply regrets.

Looking back on her present situation, she spoke about the difficulty of raising her children alone and struggling to cope with her financial obligations.

“To be a single mother is not easy. Please, I’m already tired. I don’t know what to do anymore. Bills are too much,” she cried out.

She further cautioned women against letting others dictate their marital decisions, insisting that those she turned to for guidance had misled her.

Her story has ignited discussions on marital advice, the struggles of single parenthood, and the need to think carefully before making relationship decisions.
