2027: Obokun Endorses Pelumi Olajengbesi, dumps Wole Oke after 24 Years

Community leaders, youth groups, and women leaders across the 10 wards in Obokun Local Government have unanimously endorsed Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi as their preferred candidate for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement, which took place today in Ibokun, the headquarters of Obokun Local Government, signals a fresh beginning and a strong vote of confidence in the capacity, character and competence of Pelumi Olajengbesi to reset the federal constituency for prosperity.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, elders and youths, Hon. Mayowa Adejorin, a respected political leader in the local government, said Obokun can no longer continue in political darkness while a small cabal diverts public resources into private pockets.

Adejorin lamented the total absence of federal presence in the area, commending Pelumi Olajengbesi for touring the constituency to take note of the deplorable road network and the non-execution and abandonment of federal projects due to lack of legislative oversight.

Describing Olajengbesi as a young man with brain, energy and ideas, the Ikinyinwa-born politician said he has the capacity to change the narrative of the constituency from grass to grace.

"We have adopted him as our son. We thank him for rescuing the constituency from political monsters. We believe he will not disappoint us. We must all support, canvas and vote for him," Adejorin declared.

Similarly, Mrs. Eniola Omotosho, declared that it is time for the federal constituency to witness real change.

Omotosho, decried the lack of support for women in small-scale businesses and noted that the present occupier has wasted the chances of the constituency in the last 24 years. According to her, it will take an intelligent and courageous person like Pelumi Olajengbesi to reset Ijesa North.

"Pelumi is the only candidate who has been empowering women even before the election. We have seen and heard of his support for small traders, especially women. He is not coming to learn, he is coming to work," she said.

In the same vein, Comrade Ajayi Dotun, a civil society leader, said the youths of Ijesa North have been neglected for too long.

"Hon. Wole Oke has been in the House of Reps since I was in Junior Secondary School. I have graduated, I am now married with children, yet he is still there. Despite two decades as a legislator, he remains barren in terms of projects. It is time for the youth to take over. Pelumi is the future because we trust his capacity to lead us to greatness," Dotun stated.

Pelumi Olajengbesi, who was visibly overwhelmed with emotion, thanked the stakeholders for their trust and promised not to betray it.

"This endorsement is not for me, it is for our children. It is a mandate to Rescue, Restore and Reset Obokun/Oriade. I will not be an Abuja representative, I will be a home-based representative. I will always remember this endorsement, it will forever remain in my heart," he said, while sharing his blueprint on youth empowerment, women inclusion and effective legislation.
