Troops Arrest Kidnapper In Edo, Recover AK-47 Rifle, Charms, Ammunition

 
Troops of Operation Wabaigigan have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered during an operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

The Nigerian Army said in a statement that troops arrested the suspect, Olamide Oyeniyi, on Saturday in Obaretin Community while conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes in the area.

“Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms,” it said

It stated that the suspect and recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation.

The army added that efforts are ongoing to establish the suspect’s links to other criminals and determine his possible involvement in kidnapping and related activities along the route.
