Nigerian luxury influencer and entrepreneur Waris Olayinka Akinwande, popularly known as Ola of Lagos, has explained why he has never lived in any of the houses he bought with his own money.
Speaking on a recent episode of the KK Show, the lifestyle and car influencer said he deliberately chooses to stay in rented apartments to avoid becoming “too relaxed.
“I’ve never slept in any house I bought with my own money. If you do, you’ll become too relaxed. Despite being in a beautiful estate, I still live in rented apartments and pay rent. When I pay ₦50 million a year, I use that pain to keep grinding harder,” he said.
Ola noted that the high annual rent of ₦50 million serves as constant motivation to work harder and maintain his drive. He clarified that this is his personal approach and not a universal rule, adding that people should make decisions based on their own realities rather than following general advice about buying houses or cars.
The revelation has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the strategy of using financial pressure as fuel for success.
