Islamic cleric stabbed twice in neck after leading Friday prayer in Sokoto

Islamic cleric, Malam Musa Lukwa, has been stabbed twice in the neck shortly after leading the Juma’at prayer at his mosque in the Mabera area of Sokoto metropolis.

The attack occurred on Friday when a young man reportedly among the worshippers allegedly attacked the cleric after the prayer.

The suspect was overpowered and killed by other worshippers, according to reports.

Sokoto State Police spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, confirmed the attack, saying Lukwa was taken to the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto, where he is receiving treatment and responding to it.
