Egyptian television presenter Sarah Khalifa, 39, reportedly wept in court after a Cairo court sentenced her and 11 others to de@th by hanging over their alleged involvement in an organised drug trafficking operation.
The case reportedly involved the importation of materials used to manufacture synthetic drugs, with authorities seizing more than 750kg of narcotics and related materials, as well as unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Khalifa, who was known for hosting the crime and security programme “Mission Impossible,” has denied the allegations and reportedly pleaded with the court for mercy. Her de@th sentence can still be appealed.
