The legal team representing Sean "Diddy" Combs has filed a motion to withdraw from his $100 million defamation lawsuit against Nexstar Media, attorney Ariel Mitchell, and grand jury witness Courtney Burgess.
Attorneys from the law firm Sher Tremonte LLP submitted the request on September 14, 2026, in a New York federal court. They cited six months of unpaid legal fees and an alleged breakdown in cooperation from Combs as their reasons for stepping down.
Lead attorney Michael Tremonte stated Combs is in "substantial arrears" with unpaid fees for over six months and has been unavailable for direct communication for over four months.
Combs, serving a 50-month prison sentence in New Jersey, countered via his spokesperson that the split was his own decision, accusing the firm of overcharging and unauthorized billing. However, Tremonte denied the overcharging claims.
