The Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (ACHPN) has expressed profound appreciation to the Head of Service of Ondo State for the decision to employ Community Health Practitioners into the State Health Service.
In a letter dated 11 September 2026 and signed by General Secretary Sarki Zakari, Rchp, the association described the move as more than an employment initiative. It called it a strategic investment in the health and future of the people of Ondo State.
The association particularly praised the recognition of Community Health Practitioners’ essential role in strengthening Primary Health Care and delivering quality, affordable and accessible services, especially in rural and underserved communities.
According to the letter, the employment demonstrates a clear understanding that a strong health system depends on a competent, motivated and adequately staffed primary healthcare workforce. By creating these opportunities, the administration has addressed unemployment while reinforcing the human-resource foundation needed for effective healthcare delivery.
ACHPN said the confidence reposed in its members as frontline professionals has boosted morale among practitioners across the state and shown appreciation for the contribution of every cadre toward better health outcomes. The association expressed belief that the intervention will significantly advance Universal Health Coverage and reflected people-centred leadership committed to citizens’ wellbeing.
The practitioners who have been employed are expected to serve with professionalism, dedication, discipline, integrity and compassion, the letter stated.
As a professional body, ACHPN reaffirmed its commitment to supporting state government policies and programmes aimed at strengthening Primary Health Care and improving overall health status. It offered heartfelt thanks for the opportunity given to its members to contribute to the development of Ondo State’s health sector and wished the Head of Service continued wisdom, strength and good health.
