Television personality Wendy Williams has made a rare public appearance, reportedly for the first time since February, amid her ongoing legal battle over a court-ordered guardianship.
Williams was seen walking around New York City on Wednesday, August 19, when a paparazzo asked what message she had for her fans regarding her current situation.
As she entered a building accompanied by a male companion, the 62-year-old television personality responded:
“I want out!”
Williams Has Opposed Guardianship
Williams was placed under a court-ordered guardianship in May 2022 after Wells Fargo reportedly raised concerns about her wellbeing and financial affairs in a letter to a New York Supreme Court judge.
The bank reportedly described Williams as an “incapacitated person” and requested a temporary guardian to ensure that her affairs were properly managed.
New York-based attorney Sabrina E. Morrissey was subsequently appointed as Williams’ legal guardian.
Williams has previously expressed opposition to the arrangement, insisting that she wanted control over her finances.
“They say that I need somebody to handle my accounts, and I don’t want that. I want all my money.”
“I want to see all my money that I worked hard for my entire life. My entire life,” she added. “I don’t lie, and I don’t ch3at, and I don’t st3al. I am an honest, hardworking person.”
Williams, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023, has also previously spoken publicly about her health challenges.
She had been open about her battle with Graves’ disease, which contributed to her taking a break from The Wendy Williams Show in 2020.
